From 7th Avenue to Golf Pro Shops
Bonnie Hamilton brings a buyer-merchandising mindset born on Seventh Avenue working for one of fashion’s top designers, Perry Ellis, and before that managing Bloomingdales men’s department in Boston.
When Bonnie relocated to DC, she saw the opportunity to bring fashion to golf and turn golf shops into “mini boutiques” that could be real profit centers. She launched ProLook Golf with this in mind, consulting with many area golf shops including Golfdom which Bonnie grew into the top golf retailer in the region. At Washington Golf and Country Club, where she is currently director of retail, Bonnie has increased annual revenues every year.
Bonnie’s keen eye spots new trends and hot up-and-coming designers. Perhaps that is why she is frequently tapped by PGA Magazine for input into the world of apparel and shop sales. Her article on “The New Normal” served as a road map for golf shops looking to increase business during the pandemic as consumer behavior was changing. Bonnie recognizes that golf apparel can be a hook to bring new golfers into the game. She buys streetwear and athleisure styles that push many private club’s dress codes.
Bonnie has been honored as Sectional Merchandiser of the Year by PGA of America and multi-Platinum winner by The Association of Golf Merchandisers. But more than her merchandising and buying talents, Bonnie is a mentor, teacher and friend to all. She always has time to discuss the latest styles with her peers and what’s working in her shops.
